Not yet, for most. Sending becomes mandatory in 2027 for businesses over €800,000 in turnover, and in 2028 for everyone else — until your own date, paper and PDF are still allowed. Under the § 19 small-business exemption you stay exempt permanently, and for 2026 that rule means under €25,000 last year and under €100,000 expected this year. Robur Invoicing writes one either way: every invoice downloads as a ZUGFeRD hybrid, and on a § 19 invoice the embedded file carries the exemption reason instead of a VAT rate.
Receiving is the other direction, and it is not optional for anyone — since January 2025 every German business has to be able to accept an e-invoice. That happens in your own mailbox, not in Robur Invoicing.
Yes, and it is one setting. Turn it on and VAT disappears from the form, from the invoice and from the PDF, with the required legal note in its place. Turn it off and you invoice with VAT as normal, at several rates if you need them.
Yes. Sender and recipient, your tax number or VAT ID, the invoice number, the invoice date, the service date, net and tax per rate — the whole list in § 14 of the German VAT Act, with the § 19 note in place of the tax where that applies. Numbers are gap-free and assigned the moment you send, and a sent invoice can no longer be edited or deleted; a mistake is cancelled with a credit note instead. Customer details are frozen onto the document, so correcting an address today never rewrites last year's invoice.
Yes. Every invoice and credit note you have issued exports as CSV, one tax year at a time, with net and tax split out per rate — semicolon-separated with German decimal commas, so your accountant opens it straight in Excel with no import wizard. Cancelled invoices come out with the rest, because a cancellation is a document, not a deletion.
There is no public price list yet — Robur Invoicing is being priced with the first businesses running it. The shape is already settled: one amount per month, no setup fee, no minimum term, cancelled at the end of any month.
On Google Cloud servers in Germany, encrypted in transit and at rest. Robur Invoicing processes it under GDPR — the details are in our privacy policy.
